Koi Pond With The Winter Look

Koi Pond
Mountain Valley Lodge and RV Park in Rodeo, New Mexico has a winter look now in the  Koi Pond. The plants will all look beautiful again as spring will be here in a few months. There are five large Koi fish the largest is 21 inches long and grew 2 inches this past year. Then the other four large Koi measure from 16 inches to 20 inches some grew 1 inch and some grew 2 inches this past year. I add Nature's Blue Defense in the pond to make it look pretty and is safe for fish and plants.

 Koi Fish
This picture was taken before I added the blue defense and you can see the Koi fish easier but so can the Herons! The herons come by two times a year for a meal on the way through the area.

The reflections I think are pretty nice in the pond as all the leaves are off the trees now.

  1. Boy I was glad the leaves didn't mainly fall on OUR watch. We only filled about one bag.

Funny in that when we left back east, we left a very wide leaf rake with the folks buying our house. We thought we'd not be raking any more out west here. We sure were WRONG about that!

  2. I thank you for all your help when I was on vacation! They are all cleaned up now and in the spring the trees will be full and beautiful again.

  3. You photographed the Great egret and we startled the Great blue heron when we arrived. [no camera at the ready. . . .]
so the big birds know where to fish!

  4. They do like fish! I talked to other people who have ponds and they all lost a lot of fish this year. So far they have left the 5 big ones alone, and go after the smaller ones.
